Metropolitan Cathedral - Porto Alegre

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Porto Alegre was built between 1921 and 1986 from the project of Italian architect João Batista Giovenale, then professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of St. Luke Rome and member of the Sacred Art of St. Peter's Basilica. The magnificent dome of the Church, trademark landscape in the capital, has 65 meters above the level of the square, with an inner diameter of nearly 18 meters.
Considered a postcard from the state capital, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Porto Alegre, also called the Parish of Our Lady Mother of God - but still better known as the Mother Church, to be situated in the main square - is one of the most exuberant monuments State.
